Hello everyone! Welcome to your latest news update from Mavlow School of Dance!
First off, a warm welcome to all new students and parents who have joined us over the last few months!
We’ll begin where we left off at the end of the last news update, when we were about to head to the Ellesmere Port Spring Festival at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall with the Competition Team. All bar one of the team was in attendance at the festival which was held over two weekends in February (14th/15th/21st/22nd) and between them came away with one 1st Place, five 2nd Place, five 3rd Place and five 4th Place. The next event of 2026 was our first ISTD Exam Session of the year, held on Sunday 22nd March 2026, and we have several classes take Tap Exams, including Primary, Grade 1, Grade 3, Grade 5, Grade 6 and Adult Bronze. Results arrived a few days later, and we a delighted to report that everyone passed with very good marks; the lowest was Merit which shows how good these results were, which are as follows:
8 Merit [60-79 Marks]
13 Distinction [80-100 Marks]
A very big well done to all who took exams, we’re very proud of your results from this session. As this year is an “Exam Year” we have our next Exam Session coming up very soon, we will have ISTD Modern Jazz & Tap Exams on Sunday 5th July 2026. This date is CONFIRMED so please put it in your diary now and keep this date free. Notices will be going on the Waiting Room Notice Board in due course, so please keep your eyes out for those.
We closed for Easter on Saturday March 28th, and over the holidays the Competition Team were once again in action, this time at the Allied Dancing Association (ADA) Easter Festival at Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School in Liverpool, which was held from the 7th-10th April 2026. The whole team was in attendance at this competition, and we are delighted to report that we came away with three 1st Place, four 2nd Place, six 3rd Place and eight 4th Place. A great achievement against a very high standard of standard of competition and we are proud of the girls for their hard work and commitment. The Summer Term runs from Monday 13th April 2026 through to Saturday 25th July 2026. We’ll then take six weeks summer holiday, returning to the studio on Monday 7th September 2026 for the Autumn Term, and please keep in mind we will have Ballet Exams [ALL CLASSES] and Medal Tests, so please ensure your children attend regularly through the summer term and beyond to give them the best possible chance of getting high marks in their exams.
